Hi Gene,
I use this method using a set of profiles that have been around for a
while called Wirephoto. These are based I think on sRGB but have gamma
values that range from 1.00 up to 3.00.
If you want to use an alternative basis for the RGB definition and
adjust the gamma value, you choose Custom in the RGB section of the
working spaces panel, define and name your flavour of RGB it will
appear as the RGB space. Then click on it again and scroll up to "save
RGB". then you should get the option to save an ICC profile and that
should go into your profiles folder in your user library. Restart
Photoshop and you will find your new adapted profile in the list when
you opt to assign (or convert) to profile.
