The reason I "suspected" things could have changed is because I remember
being able to "see" a difference when I attempted this sort of operation in
the past. At least, das ist what meine aging memory tells me. But it could
have been on RGB images, as you pointed out in your komments. That, I can't
be too sure about.
Still, I owe it to myself to try Andrew's technique. I just like the speed
of comparing images by throwing them onto separate layers and being able to
see directly the difference.
