The OBC module works very well (impressively so in some cases from the
examples I¹ve seen), but your choice of whether to use it or not should be
based on whether you have a significant amount of optical brighteners in
your paper (commonly quantified by a large ­b* value, or a large difference
between paper white measurements using uv included and uv excluded), and
whether your light source excites them enough to cause visual problems. If
you haven¹t noticed much discrepancy between your eye on the
spectrophotometer, or bluish/yellowish issues with the highlight tones, you
may not benefit from the OBC module.

I¹m not sure what is referred to as being associated with lower quality for
RGB workflows, particularly because in the case of OBC, visual judgment of
the end user is used in the analysis.
