So it looks like the best guess as to why they recommend CMYK has nothing to
do with the OBC module, but just a CMYK workflow in general. What I
understood from their comment was that the OBC module would work better with
a CMYK workflow rather than RGB workflow, but if they are just talking in
general (a strange place to do that), then I'll go ahead and give it a try.
While I understand the benefits of a CMYK workflow, there are also major
benefits to an RGB workflow. In our case, we must produce images that are
used in numerous media. When we print our guide prints, we have no idea at
that time how the job will be printed (what type of paper, ink, size,
whether it's printed in the US w/SWOP standard, Europe w/GRACoL, or China
w/completely unknown conditions). So we have no chance to benefit from a
CMYK workflow and must use the RGB workflow.
Thanks for all the input. I'm going to go ahead and give this module a
try...
