Hi Jim,
Perhaps I misunderstand your question. When you speak of color
differences, what is the output you are judging? Screen? Hard proof?
Press? It's a little hard to speak of "perfection" here as an
infinite variety of profiles can be made from a given data set, each
with different ink limits and black generation. You can speak of a
theoretically perfect result, which would be a proof or press sheet
that replicates the L*a*b* values of the data set exactly, but that
is a product of of not merely the reference profile but also of the
final output device, substrates, and, in the case of an proof, the
quality of the transform to the proofer's output space.
Best,
Mike Strickler

Hello All
I've made several SWOP C3 and C5 profiles using Profile Maker,
Monaco and
the EFI system on their rip from the data sets provided on the
IDEAlliance
website. I've seen slight color differences in each profile when
converting
from old SWOP to the new Specs. What I'm asking is, has anyone
created a
SWOP C3 or C5 profile that they feel does a perfect job of
converting color.
I have art directors who are super sensitive to color changes.
Please send me any recommendations or profiles.
Thanks
Jim Mitchell
