Hi list,
I find the paper tint on SWOP3 proofs very strong/dense.
L*91.2 a*0.0 b*0.2
What is the situation / advice on turning this off or down?
Proofing a job using GMG on Epson 9880. Job going in US Vogue.
Is this paper simulation really what everyone accepts in US to be
accurate?
I've not had a large experience of American proofing...
Thanks
The characterization data for SWOP Coated 3 contains the following
paper white point:
L*=92.5, b*=0, a*=0, so one point higher in L* may help a little. Most
publication papers
in the U.S. are a bit brighter and bluer than SWOP calls for, and the
new (proposed)
Application Data Sheets should recommend that:
"The difference between the characterization data set white point and
the proof white point
(excluding fluorescence) shall be no different than;
Delta L* +/-2.0, Delta a* +/-1.0, Delta b* +/-2.0 and have a maximum
Delta Eab ≤3"
So you have some room to adjust, if the publication allows for it.
