I am currently working with a customer that is proofing to an unknown color space.
They use the US Web coated SWOP v2 profile embedded with their images.
The proof they provided doesn't look anything like US Web coated SWOP v2 color.
They say they can match their proof on their press. (We are going to print it at our shop not there's).
They say they have adjusted TVI on press with plate curves.
We have implemented G7 on our presses and they are within GraCol 7 specs.
Our proof matches GraCol 7 specs.
We can match proof to press consistently.
The problem is that they have color edited all their images to match their proof.
If I output their files to our proofer, which is GraCoL 7, of course they don't match their proof.
I am thinking that if I have them output the P2P25X3 target, the Idealliance ISO 12647-7_Control Strip2007 and the IT8.7/4 target on there proofing device. Have them send it to me so I can create a profile from the proof. Then, create a device link profile using the profile created from their proof as the source and the GraCoL2006_Coated1v2 as the destination. Then output their files to our GraCoL 7 proof, we should be able to match it on press.
Does this sound reasonable? Anything I should watch out for?
The end user of the job is very color critical.
