Hi Peter,
you wrote:
Did anyone else notice the new mac pro can output a full 30 bit color
display with ddr5 memory they released today?
The ATI Radeon HD 4870 spec[1] claims
- "Full 30-bit display processing"
- "Two integrated dual-link DVI display outputs
Each supports 18-, 24-, and 30-bit digital displays at all resolutions
up to 1920x1200 (single-link DVI) or 2560x1600 (dual-link DVI)"
(whereas I can't imagine how to get 30 bit through single link DVI)
- "Two integrated 400 MHz 30-bit RAMDACs"
- "DisplayPort output support
24- and 30-bit displays at all resolutions up to 2560x1600"
i.e. there seems to be at least /hardware/ support for 30 bit color on
all interfaces (DisplayPort as well as DVI and analog) with this
graphics card -- but what about the software (OS, Drivers, Applications)?
And how do I connect my HP Dreamcolor (with ordinary DisplayPort) to the
Mac Pro MiniDisplayPort?
