Dear Phil and others,
It turns out I have (3) DTP41s in all, now, one with UV filter and two
without -- don't ask why I have a UV-filtered one, but that's how it is.
Anyhow, it turns out that all three pass calibration. My DTP41UV has its own
calibration strip, one of the other two non-UV has its own calibration strip
and the third one has long lost its calibration strip. So I'm using the
original calibration strip that came with my DTP41UV originally, before
sending it in to X-Rite for re-certification. In the cost of a DTP41
re-certification, a new calibration strip is always included.
I remember reading or seeing on X-Rite site, somewhere, something to the
effect that one can purchase fresh, new calibration strip from X-Rite for
DTP41s -- don't know if they still do -- for $75 or so. So, and this is
along your suggestion and those of other list members who contacted me
off-list, then, indeed it may be possible, with the help of ToolCrib, to
download into a DTP41's eeprom, an updated set of reflectances factors that
would improve its accuracy?
On a related note, the Barbieri 100xy uses a similar technique where the
user has the option of using a set of calibrated BCRA tiles to calibrate the
instrument.
I wonder if something like this applies to updating the relflectances of a
DTP41s? Or is there more than updating reflectances in the instrument to
sending a DTP41 in to X-Rite for re-certification? Apart from the new
calibration certification that one receives?
Thank's for your reply and kind help,
Roger
