Hi,
does anyone here have any information about HP's Deamcolor display
(LP2480zx) and the uniformity issues? (Magenta/Green casts).
Specifically, I'd like to know if these have been resolved and ...
if they have ... then what fabrication dates do good examples date
from ... or serial numbers or whatever.
Many thanks for any help/info you might provide. :)
The first panel I got was fairly non-uniform (even though it would
still have passed the UDACT / ISO 12646 uiformity test).
I asked for a better panel an got a new one from HP Germany the very
next day. The new panel is at least as uniform as my Eizo CG210.
In any aspect, my HP Dreamcolor is vastly superior than all other
Wide Gamut displays I've seen so far (and I've seen many of them),
so I'm entirely satisfied with it -- but I also know that other
customers were less fortunate.

Klaus, Raimer, thanks for the replies.
I actually have one of these monitors. It was delivered in August 08,
with a manufacture date of June 08.
I have only ever seen 3 of them and all 3 suffer from the magenta/
green problem. The 3rd was a replacement delivered just 2 weeks ago
(with a manufacture date of July 08).
I have waited since August/September to give HP time to resolve the
issue, having been assured by them, that the panels should not have
this problem. However I note that all 3 monitors were made in June/
July 08. I also note that someone here had similar problems.
What puzzles me, is that I cannot see any point in a monitor that is
made specifically for high precision colour work, but which varies
between green and magenta. I therefore conclude that this must be a
production problem ... Am I wrong? Is this monitor simply never going
to be good enough? (Unless you happen to be lucky!)
Klaus ... in what respects do you feel that the Dreamcolor display is
" vastly superior than all other Wide Gamut displays I've seen so far
" ?

Currently got the uniformity problem with the HP DreamColor display ;
First display had mild unevenness that got steadily worse over a month
or so. Contacted HP and another display was sent overnight,
unfortunately this one was worse than the first. Contacted HP again
and another display sent over night, even worse.
All the displays have a manufacture date of June 08 and the two
replacement displays were refurbs. We are fighting with HP to get a
brand new replacement instead of a refurb. Makes me think that a lot
of the displays with the June 08 date are of poor quality control.
Kind regards
