I have only ever seen 3 of them and all 3 suffer from the magenta/green
problem. The 3rd was a replacement delivered just 2 weeks ago (with a
manufacture date of July 08).
my replacement panel is also made in July 08.

Klaus ... in what respects do you feel that the Dreamcolor display is "
vastly superior than all other Wide Gamut displays I've seen so far " ?
It's the overall picture that makes it the best image editing display
for me -- /if/ you to hit it lucky and get a uniform panel: There are
other panels with similar large gamuts, with similar small viewing angle
dependency, with high contrast ratio, good uniformity and even with with
30bit capabilities -- but none of them unifies all advantages in one
device. Some examples:
- Samsung XL 20/24/30: gamut and contrast ratio is good, but it's ban
uniformity and viewing angle dependency is beyond the pale for me.
- EIZO CG 221: gamut and viewing angle ok, but contrast ratio and
luminance too low. EIZO specifies 200 cd/qm and 400:1, the one I got
achieved 140 cd/m2 and 380:1 at D65 and only 130 cd/m2 and 230:1 at D50.
I returned it. EIZO confirmed my measurements, but said that all values
are in the tolerance zone and weren't able to send me a better display.
I was also unhappy with the uniformity. Though there were no color
casts, but I saw a slight but annoying large-scale tile pattern in
uniform areas.
- EIZO CG 222: bad uniformity (despite "Digital Uniformity Equalizer"),
bad viewing angle dependency. The annoying tile pattern was even more
visible (maybe it's /caused by/ the Digital Uniformity Equalizer?).
- EIZO CG 211: good uniformity, but small gamut
I also examined some NEC and Quato displays, but none convinced me as
much as the HP Dreamcolor.
