+/- 1.5% on a 3% tint is very noticeable but not on a 30% tint. Our
tolerance is the tolerance of the reader. We print on only a #1 sheet so we
have everything dialed in pretty close but I would expect that if you were
printing on a multitude of papers your tolerance could be a bit larger.
On our system I have found that the amount of variance is the same no matter
if it is a 3% or a 50% tint which is usually within the tolerance of the
reader. I would say that if you are using a thermal plate you should be able
to keep your tolerance at 1% or under. If it goes above that and your not
sure why then I would contact your plate supplier and get them involved.
