I am working on a solution that should make use of Gutenprint with
the 9600/7600 much easier.
For now, I am sure that Robert could be persuaded to help set up
better ink curves for Gutenprint on the 9600 - maybe by running
some measurements on the old Epson driver and matching ink
densities?
There are some other bugs in Gutenprint, it appears, on the 9600,
and if the existing printers still have a couple of years of life
in them it might be worth doing some work on this as the 9800
drivers are descended from the 9600 drivers.
I have a 9600 too, so this concerns me directly :)
I don't have access to any of these printers, so I'm not able to tune
them. If someone else wants to, go right ahead.
The most likely problem is that the density is too low. This will
result in blacks being too light.
