I fail to see how this can help. We already have very effective methods of matching screen to print with a range of existing high-quality displays, to a high degree of precision -- albeit not perfect, but what is?
Even the presence of CMY "subtractive" filters will not change the fact that a display still necessarily remains inherently EMISSIVE.
Also, who will decide which set of CMY filters to employ, and, consequently, by how much to restrict the potential gamut of the display, more closely to match a given set of print conditions? Which print conditions? Will we have a display for US Web Coated (SWOP) v2, another for GRACoL's SWOP profiles, and so forth?
And what about black generation, the FOURTH channel in CMYK?
I may not be a scientist, but the questions keep coming.
