Well,if we all agreed with that stance, things would never move forward, would they?
Also, fact is that many print providers are doing a brisk and profitable business ("niche" as it may be) by certifying their presses with G7 and matching known specifications remarkably well. They respect a knowledgeable client, and the client respects a capable print provider. It works very well, in both directions.
It's the foot-draggers among the print providers who will not catch up, and blame others for their shortcomings. They are legions, unfortunately. Also, they are usually cheaper than the innovators, so they get their business from the cheapskates, who care not very much about that extra degree of quality that sets apart excellence from mediocrity.
