My experience was with pre Leopard drivers where "Color Matching" is not available. I found that sRGB was the profile that the driver/colorsync comb was converting to. With the drivers that have "Color Matching" you might want to choose ColorSync and set the profile there and use that profile to assign in PS. You can still turn off CM in the driver.
