Marco,
I have my system 'energy saver' preferences set to never sleep the display,
the computer, hard drives, etc. They're always on. I do have my screen saver
set to come on after 30 minutes (I've used Nature patterns, Cosmos, etc).
As an experiment, I turned my screen saver off for 3 or 4 days. During that
time, I never dropped my monitor profile. All the other sleep features were
turned off during the test. Since I didn't like leaving my monitors on all
the time, I turned the screen saver back on and the problem returned. I
reset the SMC chip (system management controller), but that didn't work long
term. I also unplugged all external devices—scanners, external hard drives,
etc. That didn't help either.
As with the above poster, mine is a sporadic problem, but it happens
multiple times per week, sometimes multiple times per day. It seems to be
either the screen saver, or something interacting with it. I keep trying to
get a response from Apple, but not even a simple acknowledgment so far. But,
at least I know there are others having the same problem.
Lou
