Rob,
The ISO Standard for viewing images displayed on a monitor compared to a
printed image specify D50 for your lighting. It also specifies many things
that the Solux MR-16s are unable to achieve depending on the size of the
area you are trying to illuminate. It is best if you tell us more about what
you are trying to do before people just start throwing out advice.
For example, are you trying to illuminate an area directly next to the
monitor or are you trying to illuminate your entire room? Also, how large of
a print are you comparing the image too? If it's anything large than an
photograph then you will need something better than a solux halogen bulb to
create the evenness you need to accurately proof against your monitor.
Cheers!

Unless you are stuck with Fluorescents, you’d be better off with Solux
MR16’s.

Hello
re softproofing inkjet prints
I am about to commit to a large purchase of 5000K flourescent tubes - in an
attempt to get close to D50 room conditions.
I have a large collection of Apple 23" cinema displays which seem happier
(i.e more stable/lower Delta-E) at 6500K.
Would I be better off with 6500K tubes? or forcing the monitors to 5000K?
or does it not matter?
Any guidance gratefully received! Thanks.
Rob.
