Images without embedded Profiles, but EXIF colorspace tags might be the reason.
Phothoshop and InDesign (CS4) treat them differently.
If you open an Imgage without embedded profile but EXIF colorspace Tag in
Photoshop, Photoshop treats it as if it had the corresponding ICC profile
embedded. It will display it as either sRGB or AdobeRGB (depending on the
contents of the EXIF tag). When you save the file, Photoshop will embed the
correct profile.
However InDesing ingores EXIF colorspace tags and treats images without embedded
ICC profiles as unprofiled, i.e. it assigns the InDesing RGB working space.
