Such as who, for instance? I'm not aware of anyone now doing that. That doesn't quite ring true to me.

Well we'll see. The question occurs to me is that if that's the case and they're indeed following both discussions, why don't they post that promise here?

I'm afraid I'm not quite so willing to blame the lawyers. Personally, I find the whole idea of a EULA that limits what I can do with what I create to be distasteful. As well, some years back I called X-Rite to inquire as to getting a license to write stock profiles, and was quoted a price of ten grand a quarter--Yes, I said ten grand, and yes, I said per quarter. Of course what that meant was they'd take the first 40 grand a year I managed to make from being in competition with them.
When I allowed to the young lady I was talking to that that was absurd, I was told they'd get back to me with something perhaps a little more reasonable.
I'm still waiting.
The thing here is: Someone came up with that fifty profiles a year restriction. And that restriction is specifically limited to profiles created in on-site visits. That kind of rules out that limitation being written to stop these supposed web-based auto-profiling sites that are such a menace to the future of X-Rite.
So when I see the EULA changed, I'll believe it. Until then, I think I'll not contribute further to an organization that sure appears intent on putting me out of business.
