So should InDesign starts to honour the EXIF ICC profile tag too?
Is that what Tom Lianza alluded to for the ICC future developments?
To be honest: I have no idea what the ICC could do in this context.
I think one should treat Exif color space information at most as a last
last resort. The Exif specification and current practice seems to be a
real mess: There are at least *two* Exif tags to consider, one of them
contains non-compliant data once in a while and the tags can easily be
populated with conflicting information. Whenever there is an embedded
ICC profile, it should have precedence over the Exif data (I guess
that's what Photoshop does anyway).
But *If* Adobe applications grapple with Exif Colorspace information
*all of them* should treat them consistently. Situations where Photoshop
considers an image to be in AdobeRGB and ID treats it as untagged are a
loose cannon in color-critical workflows.
