Hopefully this isn't too late to be useful...
There aren't really any especially definitive sources, because people
don't agree about the precise meanings of color terms. However, there
are a few sources that might be useful:
According to an edition of the TCCA "Color Card of America" from the
40s or 50s sometime, mauve fabric is:
No. 70057, Mauve, Y = .172, x = .287, y = .216, under standard illuminant C.
According to the Plochere color system:
(and note that these are notations relative to the 1929 Munsell Book
of Color, slightly different from the 1943 renotations that are the
main standard today)
Orchid Mauve is 8.3RP 5.7/5.6
Light Mauve is 9.0RP 7.1/6
Mauve Taupe is 8.0RP 4.3/3.3
Mellow Mauve is 8.0RP 5.3/4.0
Mauve Orchid is 9.2RP 6.3/4.5
Mauve Decade is 3.5RP 5.0/4.0
Mauve Mist is 3.5RP 7.2/4
Opera Mauve is 2.0RP 6.0/6.4
Mauvette is 1.8RP 8.2/4.7
Shadow Mauve is 1.2RP 4.8/2.3
According to the British Horticultural Color Chart, as measured in
1957 (also relative to the Munsell Book notations):
Mauve is 7.5P 5.5/10, with duller "let-down" colors 7.5P 6.5/8, 7.5P
7/6, and 8.5P 8+/4
Pastel Mauve is 2.5RP 8/4, with let-downs 2.5RP 8.5/3, 2.5RP 9/2, and 2.5RP 9+/1
Mauvette is 2.5 P 7/5, with let-downs 2P 7.5/4, 2 P 8+/3, 1.5P 9/2
According to the Ridgway Color Standards (from 1912, as measured in
1949, also relative to Munsell Book notations):
Light Mauve is 2.5P 7.0/8.0
Mauve is 2.5P 6.0/10.0
Mauvette is 10P 8.0/6.0
Pale Mauve is 6P 8.5/4.0
Maerz & Paul’s dictionary of color terms also had several
Mauve-related entries, but unfortunately I don't know any source
better than the 1976 Judd/Kelly _Color: Universal Language and
Dictionary of Names_ for establishing what the actual colors of those
were, and it just lists the ISCC/NBS region for each color, rather
than giving a definite spot.
To convert from Munsell Book notations to Munsell renotations requires
doing a lookup in a conversion table, which is currently somewhat
cumbersome. I'd be happy to send you a PDF of the paper where that
table resides though, if you're interested.
Cheers,
Jacob Rus
