Not at all. But the question came up about Lab out of an raw converter. Let's say for the sake of argument we are getting 'pure' Lab from it (which I doubt but maybe it's color engine uses Lab), which for those in love with Lab seem ideal. The rest want RGB data, so now we're 'stuck' with a Lab to RGB conversion. As I said to Iliah, so what? I can set ACR to get Lab. Presumably he can set whatever he's using to get RGB. What isn't necessarily is having to say go from ProPhoto from an Adobe raw converter to Lab in Photoshop. Just ask it for Lab.
Best to ignore this rabbit hole.
