In the manual there is a description of the work flow, but it takes a bit of study of the software to make sense of it. What I've been doing is the following:
1. Set the B&W balance if there is neutral gray in the picture (Command-click on neutral area);
2. Set the color film curve — I usually use K64;
3. Set the exposure adjustment using Compressed Exposure;
4. Set the Black Point (try 0.3 or 0.6); and
5. Set the Saturation — if RPP has a camera profile for your camera this may not be necessary; otherwise try 30-50.
6. Set the Local Contrast 10-30.
Is this what you have used as well? I use this when opening raw files I have in my library, with no CC. And, when I have not used a CC Passport.
