There is a difference between retouching and color management work. For
normal retouching many of the Apple laptops are perfectly ok, provided
1. You get a profiling tool that really works with them.
2. You are willing to give native display color temperature a chance if all
else fails
3. You establish a working environment with known repeatable light
conditions that do not overpower the display.
Mostly, the software bundled with an instrument does a very good job.
However, If people are still unhappy with their display/print matches or
their display/display matches, I very seriously urge them to try Basiccolor
or Coloreyes trial versions, they work with a lot of instruments including
spectros, and there is a reason why third party products survive - some of
them actually excel in their niche.
