Hi Armand,
Put the laptop cover with it's back on the desk just as if it was the bottom of the laptop, and put the bottom part in a vertical position so the front edge points up and holds the complete laptop in a stable position.
In that position you can put the i1Pro(2) on the screen from any direction (left or right) so the keyboard does not interfere with the USB plug.
Don't know if this works for all laptops or MacBook (Pro)s, but it works well for mine.
