On this Mac in 10.8.3 the problem is with *everything* displayed on the Desktop and in Finder Windows. So application icons in the Finder are ultra vivid and they match identically vivid icons in the doc. This includes rendered icons of images too.
It doesn't apply to the Get Info windows though. These are correctly colour managed:

[I've had to assign ProPhotoRGB to that jpeg to show what I'm seeing on screen.]
The version of the app icon in the Get Info window displays correctly. The little icons in the Finder Toolbar display correctly and will render to the correct colour if I drag the InDesign app into the Toolbar and force the Finder to calculate the bitmap.
