Bought Photoline as I didn't like the first Adobe Cloud deals but recently
went for the last PS + LR cloud offer. Still do not like the issue that
piggy back descriptions on image files will be of no value when something
is cut between me and Adobe. Anyway one big, flat, TIFF export of an edited
image is the only way to overcome that more or less. Photoline is very
capable but with all new software there's a learning curve again, asks
discipline to go that route. The shared tools for all RAW + other image
formats is nice. Though I think in software like that the RAW support for a
new camera is and will always be behind the major photo editors.
RawTherapee used in tandem with Photoline does not solve that, both depend
on DCraw. So does Qimage. Maybe companies like DXO, that can create RAW
support fast and good, should license their technology more easily or
incorporate the tools of for example PhotoLine in an editor. I see DXO is
not fast on the latest Sony models either though. One could only hope that
there is more equal market share for more programs so they all get faster
access to camera information. The vector tools in Photoline are not that
interesting for me as I always used Xara versions for work like that and
use Illustrator only to open an occasional customer file. Hate that
program. Neat Image plug-in used in Photoline on a Mac doesn't work AFAIK,
other plug-ins will work mostly, no Mac user so not my experience.
