Ben,
Your point is well taken because we're in the middle of a HUGE instrument upgrade cycle, to go from M0 instruments to M1 instruments. It's not just the latest fad, ISO-13655: 2009 was revised in 2009. So M1 has been floating in the industry for the last six years already.
The business of fluorescence has always bitten me in my humble practive, no matter what I threw at it. To be fair, I don't remember specifically trying Graeme's algorithms but I have used that of ColorToolbox quite a bit and it always left me with a bad taste. ProfileMakerPro has boasted an OBA compensation option too but I don't remember giving it a try.
I'd like to set up an experiment where, a) on a moderately optically brightened substrate and b) on a heavy optically brightened substrate, I generate a proof from a press run M0 set of measurements filtered through AlrgyllCMS OBA compensation, on the one hand, and a proof generated from straight M1 measurements, on the other hand.
How will the proofs compared to the OB press sheet?
And then, there is the issue of "traceability". Not that I want to split hairs but when it comes down to arguing over color in a business context, I prefer to have traceable results. If that's possible. Desirable? Depends. But if I can have my cake and eat it too, well, ...
/ Roger

That, and I think a fair argument can be made that Argyll’s FWA compensation code already did a superlative job of dealing with the fundamental problem before M1 ever existed. Unless you have a specific need to follow that standard, you’re likely best off simply doing things the Argyll way.
