Ben, I don't have an Epson handy, but I'm afraid Andrew might be right: In
any of the "normal" modes, eg. 720 or 1440 or 2880 the Epsons might
basically be using the same amount of ink for printing square RGB patches,
with the only thing changing is that the driver gets fed less data to print
those pretty patches :)
Of course if you select "no color ink" in the driver things will change :)
If you wanna be convinced, find someone who has an Epson eg. on list and
can print a page of patches, but actually I see no reason to doubt Andrew
if he understood what this is about and has run the test.
None of us is getting any younger, and I guess a skill we need to learn is
to stop being angry young men :)
