At the very least adding a PkgInfo does no harm and it fixes the
problem ( or cures the symptoms), even if it won't be needed in the
future.
The worst that could happen is that the system could attempt to launch
an app if a user double clicks on the bundle. Using a generic type
code such as ???? should prevent that.
They say to file a bug if the bundle extension is not claimed by the
system, but should be. Like for .plugin.
One could spend one's entire life filing bugs on Radar ;-) Mind you the
last couple of times I filed a bug, they were fixed promptly. But this
one has been around so long now, surely it's well known by Apple.
