Note quite. Michael is right. The 61883-6 is the part of "mLan" that was
proposed by Yamaha and pushed into the international spec domain. Also the
1394TA document and 61883-6 are the same (or were at the time 61883-6 was
published). But there is a connection layer that is "mLan" that is not
available (at least not yet) to the public. There are components of the
connection layer that are patented. Yamaha originally planned to offer
implementation licenses for that portion, but have backed off of that
position at the present time. AFAIK, you cannot implement a mLan compliant
node without a license from Yamaha, and currently the only licenses they are
offering require purchasing chipsets from Yamaha to implement mLan.
So, while it may be possible to vend and receive mLan compatible streams
over FW with publically available information, it is not possible to make a
mLan node.
