Hi Kevin,
Delayed response on my part, thanks for your info about SACD copy
protection.
Though I'd like to see DSD support in CoreAudio sometime, if that's a
possibility. Of course it doesn't do much good without hardware support
for it, but I think it'd be ideal to have a simple DSD audio firewire
device with stereo (or multichannel) XLR inputs with native DSD support
in CoreAudio.

I wouldn't hold my breath to see SACD playback on a Mac anytime soon
(well
unless some new superdrive comes out, but I don't even see that
happening).
SACD has multiple methods of copy protecting the discs one of them is
modulation of not only a pit-or no pit on the disc in a matter of
speaking
but also the width of the pits, in other words the drive physically
needs to
be capable of detecting these in order for an SACD disc to play back
properly.
The people behind SACD obviously do not want devices capable of this
to show
up in computers, let alone burners with this type of capabilities.
(I won't even bother suggesting our 192k solutions as they are in price
ranges higher than the companies you mentioned).
Cheers, Kevin
