Edirol UA-1D and MTCoreAudio?

has anyone had any success in using MTCoreAudio to set what would be
returned as the defaultInputDevice/defaultOuputDevice/
defaultSystemOutputDevice for devices that don't advertise any
'sources'(but do advertise streams, and yet don't give them names?)
