I have an open bug report that our devices disappear during when the user clicks "Rescan MIDI" in AMS. In other words, it is probably my fault. It doesn't seem to be a 100% sort of thing. I haven't had a chance to investigate deeply just yet. I don't have a timetable for a fix, unfortunately.
