That may sound like a great idea for a VST developer, but
looks to me like an evolutionary dead end, as it limits the plugin
to features offered by VST. I also think that maintaining that
code base would be a major resource issue for the Core Audio team -- they
have enough work to do as it is. Companies that are aggressive in pursing
multiple plugin markets are generally already using their own in-house
adapters that they can tweak as they see fit. For VSTs that aren't
available in AU format, the best solutions seem to come from hosts
that directly support both formats, and VST/AU adapter shells.
