Yeah, that's why I say it's not a 100% thing. Some people see it all
the time. Some people never see it. Some people see it some of the
time. If anyone who has this problem would like to send me an Apple
System Profiler report, it might help.
Also, if you could describe the sleep problem you mention in passing
below in a little more detail, it might help.
Send all this stuff to me off-list. The list doesn't care. :-)

I have an open bug report that our devices disappear during when the
user clicks "Rescan MIDI" in AMS. In other words, it is probably my
fault. It doesn't seem to be a 100% sort of thing. I haven't had a
chance to investigate deeply just yet. I don't have a timetable for a
fix, unfortunately.
