MusicPlayer Note Callbacks?

  • Subject: MusicPlayer Note Callbacks?

Is there some way for a MusicPlayer to notify my application that it has played a particular note? I would like to draw some kind of animation based on the currently playing midi file, so I figure that if there way some way to play a midi file, then call some extra function that tells my program that a note has been played, I could use that information and draw on the screen. But saying that there was no way for me to do that using a MusicPlayer, what alternatives are there for my idea?
