Hey,
Is it me? or is the documentation and examples for Audio Units and
Carbon very, very, very poor.
Um - I think it may be partly you. Yes some documentation is
out of date, and this has been discussed on this list before
(as you'd see if you searched it for "documentation") and I
expect there are already open enhancement requests. Still,
I'd rather have the nicely commented Audio Units headers - and
this list - than, say, the inscrutable labyrinth of MSDN and
unresponsive Redmond. :-)
It seems Apple has this obsession with Cocoa.
I don't know what this has to do with any of the rest of
your comments. Audio Units have been Carbon-oriented
from the beginning, using the Carbon Component Manager and
supporting Carbon views. There is plenty of documentation on
Carbon in general. If you just mean that there's better
documentation for Cocoa than Audio Units, well that may be because
most of it came from OpenStep which has been around for a
decade + while Audio Units is still relatively young and changing.
At any rate, please note that Cocoa does really kick ass.
I'm having a very hard time figuring out how to program Carbon
services and how to create an Audio Unit that can play a sound file
MORE than once.
I still have the list cached back through Sept. 1, and I don't
see where you've asked for help on this. Why not just ask a
specific question, and post a little source?
Christopher
