Panther Doesn't allow channel editing of MIDI interfaces?

  • Subject: Panther Doesn't allow channel editing of MIDI interfaces?

I have a user reporting incompatibility with my app and Panther because (I believe) kMIDIPropertyReceiveChannels is returning an error.
This is a problem that does not exist in Jaguar.

Panther does not allow editing of channels for interfaces. You can edit the channels if the device is NOT an interface.

Should I assume that an error return from kMIDIPropertyReceiveChannels means that the device receives on ALL channels? In this case users will get a whole bunch of channels that do not exist.

This problem only exists on devices that connect directly to the USB port such as a sound canvas or an EZbus.

What is the correct behavior here?

Thanks,
Jeremy
