Hi all,
I was wondering what the list members' thoughts are on using QuickTime and
CoreAudio together.
I'm a QuickTime just-past-beginner, and a CoreAudio absolute novice. My
need is to get a Movie outputting its sound track(s) to any channels of a
multi-channel CoreAudio devices, and I'm finding it really hard to get
started! (My movie is in a MoviePlayer at present.)
I've been particularly stuck in finding sample code or documentation about
the crossover between QuickTime and CoreAudio. Seems that QuickTime is very
focussed around the SoundManager, whereas CoreAudio very much isn't! It
also seems like there isn't much overlap between the two technologies within
Apple.
SoundManager is focussed around stereo audio, and I just haven't been able
to work out how this stereo-only model can be mapped through to multichannel
devices under OS X.
Apologies for posting on a topic I've mentioned before, but last time I
tried to do this (several months ago) I got thoroughly stuck, and gave up
and did something else :-) Jeff gave some really useful replies, but I
think I maybe tried too much in one go... Are there any plans to bring the
two technologies closer together?
Thanks, and best wishes,
Dave.
