Shouldn't Digi 001 or any other hardware that are installed on the
system be listed there?
Then selecting either of them would be the deafult audio output?
Exactly. This is what should show in the option list in System
Preferences:
Choose a device for sound output:
Built-in audio controller
Digidesign HW
Same is true for the input
