Michel,
My PowerBook G4 (10.3.3) often sleeps with up to 3 MIDI devices/drivers
active (Edirol UM-880 via Apple class driver, MOTU 828mk2, M-Audio
Radium 49) and I haven't seen any behavior like this in quite some
time. When I did, it seemed to be caused by disconnecting USB devices
while the PowerBook's lid was shut -- often, the machine would be
frozen when I got to work and opened it. Being careful to disconnect
USB while the machine was awake solved that. This was back on Jaguar,
too.
I just tested putting my PowerBook to sleep with MIDI active and the
machine was fine on wake.
Does the problem happen if the Edirol and Evolution devices are not
connected? If so, does it happen if their drivers are temporarily
disabled?

However I noted that if I "forget" a MIDI app when I put the machine
to sleep,
thw machine will either freeze solid when put to sleep, or on the
following
wakup.
I reproduce that very easily, but I can't file a bug because the
machine never
displays any kernel panic log or anything.
Note that the MIDI server worked beautifully in jaguar, that sleep
misbehaviour started with panther. It just took a long time to realise
what
was happening.
The machine is 2*1.42, latest 10.3, 2GB RAM. I tested with as little
as a
Edirol 8820 and an Evolution eKeys.
