Marc,
It may work only for AU, but it works great and so you just do it and
then, if you're doing e.g. VST too, do the "VST way" for the VST
version.
It's really not a big deal, and you've got to expect to do some extra
work
to support multiple formats. Or save yourself that needless extra work
and just do an AU plugin since virtually every host supports AU anyway
and
those that don't have promised it, whereas tons of hosts don't support
VST and never will, it's becoming quite an irrelevant format in OS X.
Again you tell people how they should work instead of helping them make
it work the way they need it. I (for example) simply don't have the
time to do "special" versions for each product, so I tend to look for a
general solution that can be applied to all formats.
And again you are trying to make it look like AU is the only good
format and the rest is shit and can be forgotten. It's not that easy. I
don't know if your income depends on developing these products, but
nowadays you need to ship OSX VST, OSX AU and PC VST to be successfull.
If you leave OSX VST out, all the CubaseSX and Nuendo2 users will
complain about lack of support for their platform and once you get a PC
VST version, doing an OSX VST version is basicly just a recompile, so
why not support it?
I wish you where more constructive in your posts and wouldn't show so
much of your "AU is the best, forget the rest. You are all idiots for
not seeing my way"-attitude.
