DigiDesign MBox works well with both my iBook and TiBook. Works fine
with Live, Logic, Reason, Cubase and Tools. Also had great success
sending digital audio to a component 5.1 decoder via it's SPDIF
outputs. Seems to work well with core audio apps.

I'm interested in adding a prosumer-level audio interface to my

mid-range M-Audio (i.e. Quattro) and emagic cards. I'm especially

to go PCMCIA or FireWire?
I've been pretty happy with my M-Audio Audiophile USB. Haven't tried
it yet with GarageBand, but it works well with Live, Reason and a few
others. The only complaint I have is that it loses MIDI connectivity
when running the OS X version of the Nord Modular Editor, but I can
probably blame that on the software (which is basically alpha quality;
it's not a supported product).
