Lag when playing through FireWire camera?

  • Subject: Lag when playing through FireWire camera?

Hi,

I'm seeing a lag when I play audio 'live' when I'm using a FireWire camera as its audio source. I'm cross-posting to CoreAudio and QuickTime because the app is currently written in QuickTime. It has a .5 to 1 second lag, but it works. I'm considering moving it to CoreAudio if it will speed things up.

So...

1) What's up with the lag?
2) Can anyone recommend a piece of software that uses CoreAudio and which has an audio playthrough feature? If the lag is something I'm doing in my app, or something that can be circumvented, I'll ditch QT and go the CoreAudio route for this.

Thanks,
-Chilton
