Hi John,
Although I know very little, I know that the MP4 file format is based
on the QuickTime file format. Maybe this is why that works?

Does it? I thought m4a files were just movs. (Before iTunes/Windows
came out, I played m4a's on a Windows box by renaming them to mov.)
