If you are using a DV camera the audio from the camera is encoded as a
DV stream thru the firewire cable. encoding and decoding of the stream
takes about 12-30 "frames" translating into a 1/2 to 1/1 sec delay.

Hi,
I'm seeing a lag when I play audio 'live' when I'm using a FireWire
camera as its audio source. I'm cross-posting to CoreAudio and
QuickTime because the app is currently written in QuickTime. It has a
.5 to 1 second lag, but it works. I'm considering moving it to
CoreAudio if it will speed things up.
So...
1) What's up with the lag?
2) Can anyone recommend a piece of software that uses CoreAudio and
which has an audio playthrough feature? If the lag is something I'm
doing in my app, or something that can be circumvented, I'll ditch QT
and go the CoreAudio route for this.
Thanks,
