Thanks for the reply. Sounds like Carbon is the way to go for now.

Can you give me an example of what you're thinking of when you say
"I would only create a Cocoa view if you feel that it would add something above and beyond what a Carbon view would give you"
?

cheers,
os.

what's the current wisdom on whether to support Carbon or Cocoa Views for AudioUnits? I was looking at the example in the SDK which creates a Cocoa view, but the only app that seems to support it is the example hosting app.

I'd like to embrace the Cocoa technology but it seems a bit pointless if none of the users of my AUs are going to be able to see the GUIs in e.g Digital Performer, Numerology etc.

Currently most hosts understand Carbon views, so if you plan to make a view, a Carbon one would seem to be required for largest adoption. If you decide you want to make a Cocoa view as well, then it will not likely see much use until more Cocoa hosts appear, but additionally to that I would only create a Cocoa view if you feel that it would add something above and beyond what a Carbon view would give you for those hosts that use Cocoa views.

It would also be a very good idea to join the Carbon-Dev and/or Cocoa-Dev lists if you are unfamiliar with those technologies.
