In general there are things which are supported in Carbon or Cocoa that is not supported in the other. If you felt that support for some service provided by Cocoa and not Carbon would improve your view, then that might be a reason to write a Cocoa view for the wider world.

I am curious as to how you did this, since Cocoa in Carbon currently only works at the window level and the only Cocoa widget I know of that works in a Carbon window, (the WebView) I understand goes through all manners of hackery to work.
